The Justice Theater Project is seeking positions for our Shrek, Jr. summer camp!

Camp Costumer
Summer 2026

The Camp Costumer will source, organize, and coordinate costumes for this summer’s production of Shrek Jr. at both the St. Francis of Assisi location and the Emily K Center location. This role focuses on creating fun, expressive costumes that help bring the world of the show to life while ensuring campers feel comfortable and confident on stage.

The Camp Costumer will be responsible for sourcing approximately 60 costumes for the St. Francis camp, through a combination of purchasing, borrowing, and repurposing items within a limited budget. Most costumes will be reused for the Emily K Center camp, with adjustments made as needed for different casts.

This position requires creativity, resourcefulness, and strong organizational skills. The Camp Costumer will collaborate with the Camp Director, Music Director, and Choreographer to ensure costumes align with the overall vision of the production.

The Camp Costumer will coordinate and conduct costume fittings during camp hours, working around the daily schedule to ensure all campers are properly fitted in a timely and efficient manner.

This role offers a flexible schedule outside of required fittings and planning meetings. The Camp Costumer is expected to complete sourcing and preparation work independently and in advance of each camp session.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, purchase, borrow, or create costumes within a $800 budget across both camps

  • Design costume plans that are age-appropriate, comfortable, and visually engaging

  • Organize and maintain costume inventory for approximately 60 campers

  • Coordinate and run costume fittings during camp hours

  • Collaborate with the creative team to ensure a cohesive production vision

  • Make adjustments and repairs as needed throughout the camp sessions

  • Prepare costumes for reuse between camp locations

Qualifications:

  • Experience in costume design, theater production, or related field (formal or equivalent experience)

  • Ability to work within a limited budget and source creatively

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Experience working with children

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a creative team

Hours & Compensation:

  • Flexible schedule, with required availability during camp hours for fittings and coordination

  • $500/week for 4 weeks. Costume budget ($800) is distinct of that amount.

Camp Drama Instructor
Summer 2026

Position Overview:
The Justice Theater Project is seeking a passionate and engaging Part-Time Drama Instructor to join our Shrek Jr. Summer Camp team. This instructor will lead creative drama sessions for campers, fostering imagination, confidence, and collaboration through fun and age-appropriate theatrical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead engaging, age-appropriate creative drama activities for campers

  • Teach in 30-minute rotating sessions throughout the camp morning

  • Encourage creativity, teamwork, and self-expression in a supportive environment

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of children from diverse backgrounds and experience levels

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere

  • Collaborate with camp staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching camp experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Drama, Education, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience

  • Experience working with children in educational, theatrical, or camp settings

  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively with children from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities

  • Enthusiasm for theater education and youth development

Hours and Compensation:

  • $350/week for 4 weeks

  • Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM – 12:15 PM

  • July 13th-August 7th
