What happens when “home” becomes

somewhere you’ve never gone before?

A revision of the hit animated 1997 film, Anastasia follows a young orphaned immigrant’s journey to uncover the mystery of her past. In the midst of Russia’s political upheaval and Soviet pursuers hot on her trail, Anya flees her country to find her “home” with help from a charming con-man and an ex-aristocrat on this journey to the past.

  • Anastasia: The Musical is based on the beloved 90s animated film. It is considered appropriate for all ages, though it has a more historical tone than the movie. Please review this content advisory to assess if it is appropriate for young potential audience members.

Some of the social justice themes and situations explored in Anastasia include Russian political upheaval (including displaying Soviet imagery and a Soviet flag), displacement and immigration, the refugee experience, homelessness, class inequality, a brief verbal reference to soliciting, grief, depictions of drinking, and character deaths (not depicted onstage).

Please note that this production features a live band, the use of a non-functional firearm prop, gunshot and explosion sound effects, stage combat, fake cigarettes, and brief sequences of flashing lights.
